That darkness proceeded to drain out any beauty in your life, leaving you in a world that had no color to speak of. During the past few years, the weight of that loneliness had settled over you like a heavy cloud. Because of this, you spent much, if not all, of your time alone. Being a woman, and blind, in Paris during the late 1800’s meant that you were on the fringes of society. Having lost your eyesight at the young age of six due to an infection, and subsequent fever, you had grown accustomed to living your life without one of the senses you had, at one point, depended on most. You had lived in darkness almost your whole life, both physically and figuratively. I simply liked the intimacy of their position for this piece. You can imagine yourself in the woman’s place.
